Why Paediatric First Aid Is Vital

Children face unique risks—over 700,000 under-5s visit A&E yearly in the UK (NHS data), from choking to febrile convulsions. Our Paediatric First Aid course delivers first aid certification tailored to kids, meeting Ofsted and EYFS requirements for early years settings. Whether it’s a playground fall, a nursery seizure, or a home allergic reaction, you’ll be the calm in the storm, protecting young lives anywhere.

What You’ll Master

Dive into a thorough, two-day curriculum designed for child-focused emergencies:

  • Responsibilities of a Paediatric First Aider: Your role in nurseries, schools, or homes.

  • First Aid Kits: Use child-specific supplies—plasters to slings.

  • CPR: Perform resuscitation for babies and children, classroom-ready.

  • Use of AED (Defib): Operate defibrillators safely for young hearts.

  • Recovery Position: Position infants and kids to protect airways.

  • Choking: Clear blockages from toys or food, vital for early years.

  • Wounds and Bleeding: Manage cuts or scrapes from playtime mishaps.

  • Burns: Treat scalds or sunburns in childcare settings.

  • Shock: Spot and stabilize in high-energy environments.

  • Epilepsy: Handle seizures with care and speed.

  • Febrile Convulsions: Act on fever-related fits in toddlers.

  • Diabetic Emergencies: Respond to sugar lows in kids.

  • Meningitis: Recognize rash and act fast—life-saving for nurseries.

  • Allergic Reactions: Manage mild to severe responses.

  • Anaphylaxis: Use auto-injectors for severe allergies.

  • Asthma: Aid breathing attacks in school or play.

  • Foreign Bodies: Remove objects from noses or ears.

  • Head Injuries: Assess falls from swings or slides.

  • Neck Injuries: Stabilize after tumbles or accidents.

  • Back Injuries: Protect spines in active kids.

  • Electrical Incidents: Treat shocks from sockets or devices.

Through realistic scenarios—like a choking toddler or a playground bump—you’ll gain hands-on expertise.

Who It’s For

This course is for those responsible for children—parents at home, carers in day care, teachers in schools, early years practitioners in nurseries, or childminders anywhere. Perfect for meeting EYFS first aid training needs or boosting parental peace of mind, no prior experience required—just a commitment to child safety.

Your Paediatric First Aid Certification

It’s two days of immersive, practical learning—no dry theory. With baby and child CPR dummies, AED practice, and injury simulations (e.g., a nursery burn or schoolyard fall), you’ll build real skills. Leave with a Northbrook 2 Day Paediatric First Aid certificate, valid for three years, proving you meet EYFS standards and can save young lives.

Other organisations may call this training Paediatric First Aid Certification, EYFS First Aid Course, or Child and Baby First Aid.
